Special Containment Procedures: SCP-005 is currently stored in a high value item locker at Site-17.
All testing must be conducted with the approval and oversight of the object's HMCL supervisor.
Description: SCP-005 is a bronze skeleton key, ostensibly designed to operate warded locks and other locking mechanisms.
When SCP-005 is used on an object, the object will become unlocked. This effect manifests regardless of SCP-005's ability to physically interface with the object. It has also been observed to occur with objects that do not have locking mechanisms, or even a clearly defined locked state.
Despite the extent of SCP-005's usability, there are certain cases where it will fail to function as intended. Objects that do not superficially resemble openable doors typically yield inconsistent results. In such cases, the object will experience erratic mechanical exertion during each attempt. Repeated usage has been shown to gradually ameliorate these effects until a consistent rate of success has been achieved.
SCP-005's exact capabilities have yet to be explored with any amount of experimental depth. Research is currently underway to determine its usefulness as an anomalous asset.
Discovery Log: During the initial implementation of Operation Stargazer, GoI 125-η ("The Fifth International Workers' Vanguard Party") conducted several raids on Foundation sites from May 5th to May 15th, 2005.
