Item #: SCP-SONG
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-SONG instances are to be held in a standard reptile terrarium and given adequate food and water daily. If SCP-SONG molts, its discarded skin is to be collected and held in a standard anomalous items locker. No shedded skin may be contained in the same locker.
Description: SCP-SONG is a collection of 6 Phanaeus vindex (hereby SCP-SONG 1 through 5) The insects do not display any anomalous properties, until they undergo a KHEPRI event. KHEPRI events occur bi-monthly, and consist of each SCP-SONG instance shedding their exoskeleton simultaneously. Upon doing so, each shedded exoskeleton will melt to a liquid form of chitin. Each SCP-SONG instance will then reform each chitin puddle to create musical instruments. Each instance will collect the instrument produced by their chitin, then play 1 song, without vocalization. After this, the KHEPRI event concludes, with the SCP-SONG instances returning to their previous activities, as the chitin reforms into nonanomalous exoskeletons.
Log of KHEPRI Events
| Instruments Created | Song Performed | Notes |
| Cello, trumpet, mandolin, bass, violin, 12 drum drum-set. | "Elephant Gun," by Beirut. | Instances 4 and 5 appeared to fight over the drum kit, before instance 5 relinquishes control to instance 4. |
| Cello, acoustic guitar, mandolin, violin, drum, cymbals. | "The Chain," by Fleetwood Mac | Instance 3 attempted to flip Instance 6 before the event's conclusion. |
| Cello, mandolin, snare drum, banjo, harp, piano. | "Southern Nights," by Glen Campbell. | Instance 5 is skewered through the abdomen by the other 5 instances. All vital signs cease. |
| Electric guitar, drums, violin, cowbell, viola | "Yesterday," by The Beatles. | No other actions occurred during the event. |
| Electric guitar, 2 bass guitars, 12 drum drum-set, mandolin. | "Covet," by Shibuya. | Of note is that the mandolin was never a part of the original song's recording. |
| Rhythm guitar, drums, piano. | "Creep," by Radiohead. | Instances 4 and 6 do not participate or molt. |
| Drums, bass guitar, synthesizer, guitar. | "Message In a Bottle," by The Police. | Instance 6 rams itself into the wall, before it is skewered by the remaining 4's antennae. |
| 4 guitars. | No music was played. Instead, all 4 guitars were immediately smashed by the 4 instances into piles of chitin, then buried. | The guitars did not reform into exoskeleton. This pattern of behavior repeated for nearly a month, until over 100 broken exoskeletons were buried in SCP-SONG's containment chamber. |
| 3 pianos, 1 microphone. | SCP-SONG-1 began to vocalize in a teenage human voice, singing a song of its own creation. Lyrics and audio are attached below. | After event conclusion, the buried chitin began to melt again, until it reformed into a humanoid entity. The entity began to display hostility to armed Foundation guards. It was dispatched by Foundation forces, and all 4 SCP-SONG instances were separated. An autopsy of the entity is attached below. Another KHEPRI event of this magnitude has not occurred since. |
