Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Phenomenon
Special Containment Procedures: The area affected by SCP-XXXX has been cordoned off. Civilian access is prohibited. Any excavation or mining operations within a 15-kilometer radius of SCP-XXXX effected terrain are to be shut down immediately.
Survalence of the Moon is to be conducted at all times. Any abnormalities should be reported to the project lead immediately.
Description: SCP-XXXX refers to an anomalous event that occurred on July 22, 1995, in which a massive object manifested within the Earth, centered around Foundation Site-44. SCP-XXXX was believed to have been a result of an accident involving experimental conceptual testing conducted in Site-44, but any records of Site-44's testing history have since been lost. Investigation of the area of the event revealed patches of foreign soil intermixed with naturally occurring terrain. Collected foreign soil samples were consistent with nonanomalous lunar soil.
Ground-penetrating radar revealed the object extends approximately 3,500km into the Earth's mantle and is spherical in shape. No noticeable seismic events occurred in the wake of the incident, and, after a thorough investigation, residents near Site-44 showed no indication of being aware of SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX affected terrain and surrounding areas exhibit several anomalous properties, including reduced gravitational pull, thinned atmosphere, and lack of meteorological interaction, consistent with the properties of the Moon.
SCP-XXXX resulted in the loss of Site-44 and all 158 attending personnel. Coinciding with the onset of SCP-XXXX, Foundation astrologists observed the Moon behaving similarly to objects undergoing Class-θ conceptual rebinding. Refer to Addendum XXXX.1.
