Entrance to Cover Building of SCP-XXXX
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: All personnel venturing into SCP-XXXX must have a fully charged torch that is able to function for at least two hours. Emergency (indoor specialized) flares are kept inside SCP-XXXX, but their existence at present time, or availability are not guaranteed. A cover building is to be established above SCP-XXXX, and the conventional entrance is to be sealed.
(Addition post 1/9/2005 incident)
Personnel should attempt to exit SCP-XXXX during an event unless conducting an experiment inside.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an antique blocked-off subway tunnel located in Queens, New York City. Built in 1926, it served as a connector in-between Astoria and 46th Street until it was shut down four years later. SCP-XXXX has no utility connection to the rest of New York City and does not have any functioning lighting.
The superstructure is constructed out of alloy steel, four meters at its tallest and three at its lowest. The subway is thirteen meters wide at most places and is forty meters long. Any fissures in the framework are filled with stone brick. SCP-XXXX has an arched ceiling, also made of bricks, and several concrete support pillars. The walls are decorated with jutting arches. SCP-XXXX also has a variety of corridors and passageways branching out from the main room, but all of them stop in dead ends.

SCP-XXXX will randomly (as far as is ascertainable) trigger localized space-time events, usually with intervals of one to two weeks but can be as large as seven months. SCP-XXXX events can be difficult to recall and painful to endure. During an event, victims recall the shape of the room to warp (presumably the space inside SCP-XXXX bending) and loss of depth perception followed by a seizure. SCP-XXXX ceases activity when light levels inside reach approximately 1400 lumens, but activity is not guaranteed when under 1400 lumens.
SCP-XXXX may also cause items or people to disappear during an event, including emergency lighting and rations (presumably the "bending" of time). On January 9th, 2005, Doctor Eric Coleman was the only person inside SCP-XXXX during an event. Witnesses report that screaming was heard, but when a medical crew arrived Doctor Coleman disappeared along with eight emergency flares, five MREs, and three cable powered spotlights (the cables were severed at the entrance of SCP-XXXX, appearing as if they were manufactured to end at that point). Special Containment Procedures were updated according to the new information.
Before his disappearance, Doctor Eric Coleman was the lead scientist on SCP-XXXX. Co-workers would mention Coleman may have made a major discovery, and was discussing it with his supervisor. Later on, his supervisor dismissed his discovery. All of his work was later dismissed after an O5 Council Review.
Addendum: SCP-XXXX was investigated to attempt to create another type of Reality Anchor using light combinations of various spectrums, but the difficulty of gathering accurate information on SCP-XXXX made the R&D close the project.
